        Join PTSA

    We are a stronger community when all families join and actively participate in the PTSA. The PTSA is a great way for parents, teachers, and staff to enrich the experience of all our students. You can join any time (the membership drive never ends). An annual membership to the PTSA costs $10 per teacher/student/parent/guardian/alum. The PTSA membership dues stay with our school, and a portion is sent up to support the work of your PTSA Council.

We are actively seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team. This is your chance to impact our school community and help shape the future significantly.     The officers of this association shall be the president, executive vice president, secretary, treasurer, auditor, historian, and parliamentarian.

    Getting involved in PTSA allows you to make a meaningful impact on your child's education and school community. All parents/guardians, teachers, and students are welcome.

    Parent-Teacher Association

    • To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
       
    • To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children;
       
    • To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

     

    • To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, places of worship, and throughout the community.
       
    • To raise the standards of home life.
       
    • To advocate for laws that further the education, physical and mental health, welfare, and safety of children and youth;
       
    • To promote collaboration and engagement of families and educators in the education of children and youth; 
       
    • To engage the public in united efforts to secure the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of all children and youth; and 
       
    • To advocate for fiscal responsibility regarding public tax dollars in public education funding.

    PTSA 2024 Continuing Education Scholarships
    Applications Due March 21, 2025

     

    Western High School PTSA is pleased to offer a scholarship program to acknowledge the achievements of Western High Seniors in their volunteer service at school and community. 

    This scholarship recognizes graduating students for volunteer service in the schools and community, extracurricular activities, and leadership positions at Western High School.  Scholarship readers will look for examples of effort and achievement for students who exhibit school pride and volunteer experience at Western High School or the general community.

    General Program Rules:

    1. Be a current dues-paying Western High School PTSA member prior to 02-28-25.

    2. Be on track to graduate with the class of 2025 at Western High School.

    3. Have plans to further their education or pursue a trade after high school.

    4. To be considered for the scholarship, you must type or paste your responses into the application submission form.

    Remember to submit your completed application by 

    3:17 pm on Friday, March 21, 2025. Late applications will not be accepted.

     

    Applications will be disqualified if the General Program Rules are not followed. 
    The PTSA scholarship recipients will receive their award at the Western High School Award Ceremony, and recipients will be expected to attend.

    California PTSA Scholarships

     

    Your education doesn’t end once you walk across that high school graduation stage. That’s why California State PTA has two scholarships to help you achieve your college dreams and your life goals.

     


     

    $1,000 Volunteer Service Scholarship

    Applications Due February 15, 2025

    $1,000 Volunteer Service Scholarship — This scholarship recognizes graduating seniors for their volunteer service in schools and communities, allowing them to register for courses at accredited colleges, universities, trade or technical schools. Applicants must be PTA members graduating from a California high school between January 1 and June 30 of the current academic year. Apply
     

     

    $500 Dr. Ralph E. White Graduating Senior Scholarship

    Applications Due February 15, 2025
     

    $500 Dr. Ralph E. White Graduating Senior Scholarship – Honoring the volunteer and public-service legacy of Dr. Ralph E. White and his wife, Eleanor, this additional scholarship provides $500 each to two successful applicants of the Volunteer Service Scholarship who intends to pursue a career in the medical field.

    Applications, reference forms/letters, and all supporting documents must be received in the California State PTA office by February 1 each year.  All applicants are notified of their status in March. Scholarship winners receive a letter of congratulations, a recognition certificate from the California State PTA, and a check. Learn More

     

     

    Application Tips

    Don’t forget to include these items in your application:

    • Proof of your PTA membership

    • Descriptive essay fully answering the questions asked regarding your PTA experience and service, service to other organizations or individuals, your career
      plans, job experience, and any other information you feel would be valuable to the selection committee.

    • Two completed reference forms and letters, written specifically for this application (first reference written by a community volunteer leader unrelated to you and with whom you volunteered; second reference written by a member of the high-school faculty).
