Study children's developmental stages from conception through early adolescence. Focus is on the emotional/psychological, cognitive, and physical aspects of child development, and the influences of hereditary and environmental factors. This class articulates with local community colleges. This course meets the UC elective (“g”) requirement for admission.
This is a projects-based learning course. Fun, creative projects throughout the year aid in student learning. Such projects include creating pamphlets/projects for first aid and drug abuse awareness, computer-based presentation on child development theorists, budgeting for and designing a baby nursery, caring for a "robot baby", and writing a children's book.
This class is part of the Education Pathway. The Capstone course for this pathway is Principles of Teaching & Learning.
